While Nike's renewed partnership with the late Kobe Bryant's wife Vanessa has everyone looking forward to the return of Kobe Protros from Nike, adidas is quietly dropping one of Mamba's earliest sneakers. According to Sole Retriever, the adidas Kobe 1 in the "Sunshine" colorway that helped make it famous (or infamous, depending on how you feel about the shoe's polarizing design), is dropping in Europe this week with a global release to come this summer.
The adidas Kobe 1 was inspired by the Audi TT that Bryant was driving at the time, the first official Kobe shoe from adidas was as love it or hate it as you can get with a sneaker. The original ads made Kobe Bryant out to be a racer driver, but the style didn't quite reach the popularity of Kobe's other sneakers. Nevertheless, the brightly colored Sunshine version was unmistakeable on court and these are a must-have for the die-hard Kobe fans.
