Tom Sachs and Nike Are Dropping More "GPS" Colorways

Tom Sachs and Nike Are Dropping More "GPS" Colorways

When it comes to hype, most of the sneakers that resell for the highest amounts are the collaborations, and more specifically, collars that have a very similar approach to their designs. In recent years, that's included a lot of designers pushing the envelope with their aesthetics to drastically change the look of a shoe. For instance, Virgil Abloh's Off-White collabs, Travis Scott's reverse Swoosh aesthetic, and even brands like Acronym, Undercover, and Sacai, who added new elements to iconic silhouettes that give them a much more modern look and feel. People will always love wild sneakers, but when the pendulum swings so far one way, it tends to also swing the opposite direction in an equal amount. If the recent Tom Sachs x NikeCraft GPS is any indicator, we might just see that trend and design aesthetic shift back towards something much more simplified by the time 2023 rolls around.

Tom Sachs and Nike Are Dropping More "GPS" Colorways

The General Purpose Shoe, aka GPS, is the latest in a growing list of collabs between Nike and Tom Sachs. Sachs is a creative from NYC that tends to take what we would call design trends and throw them out the window in favor of functionality. Although, the approach in itself creates a very intentional aesthetic that has a rawness about it that feels like it could have been born in your parent's basement with some duct tape, a hacksaw, and a few MacGyver-like skills. The Tom Sachs x NikeCraft GPS, however, keeps things as simple as possible.

Tom Sachs and Nike Are Dropping More "GPS" Colorways

Despite its simplicity, the first color way of the General Purpose Shoe sold out instantly and is going for significantly over retail in most sizes. Now, thanks to SoleEarly, we have a look at three new colorways of the GPS that will likely release later this year. White with red, white with black, and grey with white colorways of the GPS make it seem like we are either headed towards this being as much a "general release" as it is a "general purpose," but only time will tell if the demand will remain as Tom Sachs and Nike bring more versions of the GPS to the market. Is the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft GPS going to take up a spot in your Sneaker Throne?
