The Nike SB Air Jordan 4 Is Actually Happening

The Nike SB Air Jordan 4 Is Actually Happening

Skateboarding and Air Jordans go hand in hand. Ever since the early days of Nike unveiling the original Air Jordan 1 in 1985, skateboarders have laced up Jordans to film some of the most legendary parts in skate films. Take a look at some of the skate shoe designs from the late 1990s and early 2000s and you will see tons of inspiration taken from the Air Jordan line. It wasn’t just that the original Air Jordans and Nike Dunks were built for skating, it’s that they were available on clearance for dirt cheap, and that made them the perfect choice for skaters to scoop them up. Fast forward to 2014 and Jordan Brand and Nike SB finally acknowledged what the rest of us were already living, skating in Jordans is a thing.

We might think of the Air Jordan 1 as the primary Air Jordan model for skateboarding but in reality, a lot of us skated in Jordans of all types, myself included. After what seems like years of rumors, this year the Air Jordan 4 is getting a Nike SB makeover. The first colorway is a white and Pine Green variation of the shoe. There aren’t many details about the release available at this time, but it is said that the model will be retooled for skating, presumably with some adjustments to the padding. This first look from @iamricosuav appears to have reinforced stitching and a more seamless design than the traditional AJ4, but we’ll have to wait for the rest of the details and release info on the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4.
