Few brands have found success in the sneaker and streetwear game that Union has over the years. From their NYC origins, their rebirth after a change of ownership, and a cross-country move to the heart of Los Angeles’ La Brea district, Chris Gibbs’ efforts have elevated the Union name to become one of the most significant labels in the game, and one of the most important collaborators for Jordan Brand.
Rumors have been flying about new Union x Jordan collabs for months but today we get an official look at the AJ1 KO Low that is dropping in the coming weeks. The Air Jordan 1 Low and the Air Jordan 1 KO are both two of the most underappreciated silhouettes in the Air Jordan archive, outshined by their higher-cut “OG” siblings. That’s exactly why Union chose them for their next collab. The AJ1 KO might be known for its canvas uppers, but Chris Gibbs flipped the script and added leather and suede to the Union AJKO Low in an effort to make a sneaker that is wearable on a daily basis “like the Nike Air Force 1,” while at the same time paying homage to the early years of hip hop through the creative packaging. The simple “Sail” upper gives the AJKO a timeless look but as you might expect based on their prior collabs, the Union x Jordan 1 KO Low features customizable elements. In this case, removable Swoosh logos come in Navy Blue and Forest Green to let you get more mileage from the colorway.
You can grab these from Union directly on February 2nd.
