In celebration of the Chinese New Year, Jordan Brand will be bringing back an iconic silhouette for sneakerheads and college students alike. The Air Jordan XX3 "Year of the Rabbit" is set to join the Air Jordan 1 Low OG for this special occasion, and it's sure to bring a ton of hype with its return. Let's take a look at what makes this release so special.

First released in 2008, the Air Jordan XX3 was designed by renowned sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield. Sneakerheads know Hatfield as one of the most iconic names in footwear history. He has introduced many groundbreaking designs throughout his nearly 50 four-decade career, including some monumental sneakers in the Jumpman lineup. With Tinker’s name attached to it, it's no surprise that fans were instantly drawn to this silhouette upon its debut twelve years ago.

This particular colorway pays tribute to one of Nike's most beloved annual traditions — Lunar New Year celebrations. The upper is dressed in shades of jade green, while accents are provided by gold and red details. A “23” embroidery can be found on each tongue and to finish off the design there is a graphic printed on the back side of each tongue which depicts a rabbit - hence its nickname “Year Of The Rabbit”.

Lunar New Year has always been an important holiday for Nike and Jordan Brand alike. The Swoosh typically releases special-edition sneakers every year to commemorate this significant occasion, and they have done so yet again with this upcoming drop. While there isn't any official partnership in place for this particular release, its unique aesthetic serves as an impressive homage to one of Nike's biggest holidays every year.

Keep your eyes peeled for release date changes as we inch closer towards 2023 but according to House of Heat, the Air Jordan XX3 "Year Of The Rabbit" is set to drop on January 23rd.
