Sneakerheads just got an early Christmas present with the announcement of the iconic Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” making a come back in 2023. Arguably, one of the most sought after Air Jordan models of all time, and it's finally making a return in true-to-original form remake in the upcoming “Reimagined” series from Jordan Brand.
The Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” first debuted in 1988 and was designed by legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield. It was the third iteration of the iconic Air Jordan series, which began in 1985. This shoe quickly gained traction, becoming one of the most popular models in the entire series. From an aesthetic perspective, what set this shoe apart from other Jordans was its unique design that featured white leather with grey elephant print overlays, the first visible “Air” cushioning in any Air Jordan models, and of course, the introduction of the now-iconic Jumpman logo. On the court, Michael Jordan leveled up his “ballplayer swag” with the Air Jordan 3 by winning the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 1988 with a number of gravity-defying dunks, including the famous “free-throw line” dunk.
In the sneaker game, the AJ3 in all of its “White Cement” variations have become somewhat of a symbol of status due to its limited availability and steep price tag on the resale market. The Air Jordan 3 White Cement “Reimagined” will be one of the most anticipated sneaker releases of next year when it drops in 2023 for its 35th anniversary celebration.
