One of the most consistent collaborators in the sneaker game is Pharrell Williams. Ever since he teamed up with adidas back in 2014, his creations have provided some of the broadest appeal in all of footwear. While some of his collabs have landed higher up on the hype scale, it’s Pharrell’s ability to create styles that perform well without the hype that makes him most valuable as a partner with the Three Stripes. Unlike many collaborators in the modern era of sneakers, Pharrell also wears a variety of adidas sneakers, and oftentimes works directly with the marketing department to help support general release sneakers like the NMD S1. 

The Pharrell x adidas Hu NMD S1 RYAT “Cardboard” is a new take on the recently introduced S1 that gives it a perfect look and feel for the coming fall months. At first glance, the NMD S1 RYAT looks as much a “sneaker” as it does a boot and trail runner. With an official color scheme of Cardboard/Beige Tone-Solar Yellow, the tan upper gives this colorway its “Cardboard” nickname. Photos from Yankees Kicks showcase bright accent colors on the tongue and midsole give this latest Pharrell collaboration a very adidas Terrex vibe, combined with the aggressive outsole, making it a perfect shoe for the coming change in weather.
