From Player Exclusive To This Holiday's Air Jordan 11 Release
According to House of Heat, this year's Air Jordan 11 release will be the "Cherry" colorway that released in low-top form back in 2016. However, the story behind the colorway is even more interesting than just another Jordan release.
The colorway, or it least the closet sample we've seen to it, originally started as a player exclusive for Blake Griffin that he received after winning a bet against Michael Jordan. On a team building trip to Mexico, Team Jordan, some of the members won a bet against MJ and got to choose their very own colorways of the Jordan model of their choice. Blake Griffin originally wanted to go with a "Cherry" makeup on the AJ11 but because of the pending release of the Cherry Lows, he opted to go back to his roots and do an Oklahoma-inspired "Crimson" colorway.
Six years later, the "Cherry" colorway will make its first public release since they were first seen on the web back in 2016. With it being such a long way out, no release date has been set but it is expected that these will drop in December of 2022 for $225.
