The Most Unforgettable Black Friday Sneaker Releases
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday right around the corner, while planning our own promotion, we started reminiscing about some of the unforgettable Black Friday sneaker releases over the years. Let us know what your favorite Black Friday sneaker releases are in the comments below.
Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement” (2011)
The Air Jordan 3 originally released in 1988 and has released a handful of times since then. In 2011, after ten years without a regular release (they did drop in the Countdown Packs with the Air Jordan 20 in 2008) sneakerheads were ready and waiting to get their feet in one of the most iconic sneakers of all time.

Air Jordan 7 Premio “Bin 23” (2010)
Arguably some of the highest quality Air Jordans ever made were released as a part of the Premio “Bin 23” series. In 2010, Jordan Brand dropped the Air Jordan Premio “Bin 23” collection and for Black Friday, we got the Air Jordan 7. Even though the colors were far from traditional, this release had every sneakerhead on the hunt.

Nike 6.0 Dunk “DeLorean” (2010)
It’s been ten years since the “DeLorean” Nike 6.0 Dunk released and things in the sneaker game are much different than back then. However, the Nike Dunk has returned to the top of the popularity list this year so we had to include them. This colorway featured design elements inspired by the famous DeLorean from Back To The Future II, like the metallic silver finish, taillights incorporated into the outsole, and the Belfast stamp on the tongue.

Concepts x New Balance 1500 "Freedom Trail" (2009)
Concepts is one of the best sneaker boutiques when it comes to storytelling. The Boston-based store put forth one of their best efforts in 2009 with the “Freedom Trail” releases. These New Balances were inspired by the 2.5 mile Freedom Trail that runs through Beantown.

Air Jordan 8 “Aqua” (2015)
The “Aqua” Air Jordan 8 is not only one of the most unique colorways ever seen on an Air Jordan, but it’s also one of the most popular. Thanks to famous sneakerheads like Kanye West and Drake, their popularity has been constant, so when they re-released in 2015 after 8 years in the vault, sneakerheads rejoiced.

Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” (2009)
The "Flu Game" Air Jordan 12 is one of the most widely recognized storylines when it comes to Air Jordan shoes. Back in 2009, not as many people were in the sneaker game, but when Jordan Brand dropped the Flu Games on Black Friday, all the Chicago Bulls fans were after a pair.

DJ Clark Kent x Nike Air Force 1 (2008)
When sneaker release info became a hot commodity with the sneaker blogs, DJ Clark Kent decided to get creative with the design of his collaboration for Black Friday of 2008. Clark went with a pony hair upper and black/silver heel and Swoosh. However, the official colorway remained black on black, making it seem like just any other release. The plan worked and Clark kept his release under wraps until the timing was right.

Bape x adidas NMD “Camo” (2016)
The adidas NMD was one of the most popular sneakers of 2015-2016 and by the time Bape released their camo versions of the popular BOOST cushioning-equipped runner, the hype was unbelievable. Of course, Bape Camo in itself is never short on the hype meter.

Kanye West x adidas Yeezy 350 V2 (2016)
While Kanye West hasn’t let his foot off the new release gas pedal for a number of years now, the constant flow of new Yeezys really kicked into high gear on Black Friday of 2016. Kanye and adidas dropped not one but three different black colorways of the 350 V2 for Black Friday and the resale prices are still some of the highest amongst Kanye’s releases.

Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 530 “Central Park” (2014)
Ronnie Fieg has made a habit of dropping heat on Black Friday and we could choose from any number of his releases to include here but it’s the “Central Park” New Balance collab that comes to mind today. This shoe released alongside a New Balance 850 inspired by the Brooklyn Bridge. The New Balance 530 is a silhouette that doesn’t release very often, so this colorway from Mr. Fieg lands on a lot of wish lists.

Air Jordan 4 "Fire Red" (2020)
2020 was loaded with great releases from nearly every brand, as the pandemic made shopping from home one of the only ways to get a fresh new pair of kicks. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking but finally getting a pair of Fire Red Air Jordan 4s with the Nike Air on the back truly crossed this pair off the bucket lists of many sneaker collectors.
