Virgil Abloh's Louis Vuitton x Nike Expression of the “Air Force 1"

Virgil Abloh x Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1

With the loss of Virgil Abloh, there has been a lack of excitement around sneaker release for many people. While there are still countless pieces of Virgil’s work still in development that will eventually release, none of them will have the buzz or anticipation that the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 has. Not only is this collaboration a connection point between two of Virgil Abloh’s biggest creative partners, it’s also incredibly symbolic of just how big his impact was across cultures.

As the founder of Off-White, Abloh took streetwear and combined it with luxury. As a collaborator with both Nike and Louis Vuitton, he somehow pulled off the unthinkable by taking the iconic Nike Air Force 1 and wrapping it in the world famous Louis Vuitton Damier print. The beauty in the collab, is that it not only features Off-White quotation mark branding, but it’s also representative of Virgil's view of the world in regards to design, bootlegs, and how they all collide.

The Virgil Abloh Off-White x Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 is now up for auction at Sotheby's. 200 pairs, which range in size from 5-18, are up for auction from now until February 8th. If you have deep enough pockets and are lucky enough, these might be the most Sneaker Throne-worthy kicks you will ever see.
