The “Cherry” Air Jordan 11 rumors began earlier this year with mock-ups floating around the sneaker blogs and leak accounts. Needless to say, a Chicago Bulls-inspired colorway like this on an iconic sneaker like the Air Jordan 11 had a lot of people excited. Collectors pointed out the similarities to Blake Griffin’s storied player exclusive Oklahoma. Resellers rejoiced.
Now with official photos of the Air Jordan 11 “Cherry” being unveiled, the rest of us can get excited about adding a pair of these to our Sneaker Thrones. With Varsity Red patent leather wrapping the upper, these are likely to be one of the more popular non-original Air Jordan 11 colorways we’ve seen. Of course the semi-translucent outsole and classic colorblocking also add to the timeless appeal of the AJ11 silhouette. With a release date set for December 10th, we can only hope that these avoid the “candy cane” nickname that is somehow synonymous with red and white holiday sneaker releases.
