These Wild Concepts x Nike Collabs Are An Ode To The OG

The Nike Air Max 1 is arguably the most important sneaker of all time. Sure, the Air Force 1 was trendy first, and the Air Jordan 1 has become the most popular over time, but the AM1 changed everything. It seems crazy to say it now that almost every shoe Nike makes has some form of it, but Visible Air cushioning was mind-blowing back in 1987. The concept was so outside the box that people had to go into their local sneaker stores to see it in person. Once you started seeing them on the street, you couldn't help but stare. It's not just the Nike Air that made the OG Air Max legendary. At the time, sneaker colors were still pretty plain, aside from the highly-marketed "Banned" Air Jordan 1 at least. The bold color choices made it recognizable from farther away and forever changed the way footwear designers thought about color.

35 years later, Concepts is taking the same approach with their latest Air Max 1 collaboration with Nike, bold colorways that are basically guaranteed to break necks. Concepts takes things a step further with a wild mix of materials that includes camo prints, denim, corduroy, inside-out fabrics, paisley, and much more. Not only that, the Swoosh branding has been enhanced with floral decorations, mini-Swoosh logos appear in random spots, and stars as well. That's really just the beginning. The details on these are so over the top it's impossible to mention everything. The design is reminiscent of the "What The" approach, combined with the recycled approach that has been popular with Sean Wotherspoon's designs.

According to Just Fresh Kicks, no release date has been set for the Concepts x Nike Air Max 1 Pack but considering Air Max Day is just weeks away, it seems like these could be landing sooner rather than later.
