Virgil Abloh's Off-White Nike Air Force 1 Mid

Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid

There is no denying the impact that Virgil Abloh and his Off-White brand have had on sneaker culture. What started with "The Ten," has grown into so many sneaker releases that most of us would forget a few if we tried to name them all.  The Off-White x Air Jordan 2 seems to have marked a turning point for the partnership between Virgil and The Swoosh. Until that release, Abloh has chosen to use the most popular models from the Nike and Air Jordan lines, strategically pulling retro models that land in the sneakerhead category, running category, and the nostalgia category. The Air Jordan 2, iconic as it may be, does not have the following that the Air Jordan 1 or Air Jordan 5 have, which has many wondering if Virgil is now being used by Nike to help sell shoe that don't normally sell very well.

If you were questioning it yourself, the newly revealed Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid should have you riled up again. The least popular Air Force 1 style has always been the overlooked stepchild of Air Force 1s. Back in the day, DJ Clark Kent famously said he would never wear a pair of Air Force 1 Mids in Bobbito Garcia's ESPN Show, It's The Shoes. Generally, sneakerheads, and especially true Air Force 1 fans, have been hesitant to cosign many colorways of the Air Force 1 Mid. That said, in the Spring of 2022, when the Virgil Abloh Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid releases, we'll see if the Virgil cosign can help lift the AF1 Mid to new heights.
