Nike's ISPA Team Has A Crazy New Release Coming Soon
The Air Jordan 1 and the Nike Dunk might be the most popular sneakers in the world right now but there are a lot of outside the box footwear designs also coming to market. As it is in life, oftentimes the pendulum swings from one end of the style spectrum to the other in a very reactionary way. While traditionalists are happy to add countless colorways of retros to their Sneaker Thrones, there is a growing of unconventional thinkers that have adopted a more hacker-like do it yourself aesthetic. The most prominent designs in this aesthetic space is Tom Sachs, but there has been so much interest in this type of style that Nike setup an internal team to create what they call ISPA.
According to Nike, "ISPA is a philosophy: Improvise. Scavenge. Protect. Adapt. The actions form a set of design principles; manifested as a pinnacle experimental expression of Nike design across all categories, including the latest innovations and established creations. The resulting product relays an optimism about the power of design, addressing the discreet needs of the city-dweller."
One of the models the ISPA team created is dropping in a new violet-hued colorway is the Nike Flow 2020 ISPA SE. The silhouette takes on some characteristics of a moccasin, with cushioning in the form of a Nike React midsole, and an eclectic lacing system that uses a cinch-type mechanism so you never really have to "tie" you shoes.
No release date is set for these but they are expected to drop this spring for $220.
