Bape Is Bringing Their Classic Colors and Camo To A New Balance Collab

At its peak in the early-to-mid 2000s, Bape was one of the most popular brands in all of fashion. You could point to the connections with Pharrell Williams, the photoshoots featuring Kanye West, or the countless number of rappers and athletes that wore the brand religiously back then, as the cornerstone of its success. However, as time has gone by, Bape’s popularity has evolved beyond those influential names and celebrity sitings. While the brand might be nearing its highest levels of popularity once again, the Bape aesthetic has always been consistent throughout the ups and downs of streetwear’s fads.

The Bape “Ape Head” camouflage, the balance of army-inspired colorways and brightly colored creations, and the “shark” teeth, are the three most iconic creations for Bape. This summer, all three of those aesthetics return on the latest Bape x New Balance collaboration. For the partnership, the team at Bape has reworked the New Balance 57/40 in three colorways tying together their most famous design elements with what might be the most popular new model in the NB lineup. The 57/40 is partly the classic 574 runner and partly ‘90s tech-inspired, and with Bape’s color choices, this trio of releases has an appeal that will reach multiple generations of sneakerheads.
